Petra's Message 2023

Petra's Message 2023

13 December 2023

This year has again been one of growth for Nurtured at Home, as we welcomed new Educators, families and Visiting Teachers not only from other services, but also new enquiries. We are grateful to have been chosen as your preferred service and we continue to work hard to ensure you feel well supported and part of our family.

In the first half of this year, we had the Education Review Office undertake their first governing organisation evaluation of Nurtured at Home. This meant they reviewed and evaluated our policies, procedures, and internal systems along with reviewing a sample of 10 networks. The confirmed report noted the ways we support a quality service, and they are confident in our ability to continue this good work. Of course we can’t do this without our Educators/Nannies, Visiting Teachers and administrators who continue to ensure good things are happening for children.

We’ve continued to support Trees That Count, donating 1 tree for every child enrolment and in 2023, we have so far donated in excess of 700 trees. With your help and support, we have made monetary donations to the mayoral relief funds of those regions affected by the January storms and Cyclone Gabrielle, and we have also supported I Am Hope, Cancer Society’s Daffodil Day fundraiser, Breast Cancer Awareness campaign, and Easter Eggs for Women’s Refuges around the regions where we operate. This Christmas, we are in the process of collecting donations of food and toys from around our regions from those that are able to give so we can deliver these to Women’s Refuge. We know this can be a challenging time for many families, and we hope our donations go some way towards easing the stress for some of our most vulnerable families.

This is the final newsletter for 2023, and the first newsletter for 2024 will be February. From your feedback, we have been working on new ways to engage with you, such as changing the format of our newsletter. We look forward to sharing more with you!

We work hard to ensure good things are happening for children, and you are all valued as a part of our team. We wish you and your family all the very best over the summer season, and a safe and happy holiday if you are heading away for a break.

Nga mihi, Petra
