FamilyBoost
FamilyBoost
FamilyBoost is a new childcare payment to help eligible households pay for the cost of early childhood education (ECE). From 1 July 2024, if you’re eligible, you will be able to claim up to 25% of your weekly childcare fees, or a maximum of $975 every 3-months.
The FamilyBoost payment relates to fees incurred with a licenced ECE provider after 20 Hours ECE and MSD’s Childcare Subsidy is taken into account. The amount that can be claimed slowly reduces for household incomes over $140,000 and is no longer available if your household income is over $180,000.
IRD has an online calculator and guided help tool on their website to help caregivers work out if they'll be eligible for FamilyBoost: www.ird.govt.nz/familyboost/can-you-get-familyboost
The first claim can be made from 1 October 2024 onwards for the 1 July – 30 September quarter. In order to submit a claim, prior to this you will need to register with MyIR – Inland Revenue’s online portal. You are also required to have an IRD number for the child/children you will be claiming for.
From 17th September 2024, you will be able to register for FamilyBoost in myIR.
From 1 October 2024, you will be able to submit your FamilyBoost claim for 1 July—30 September in myIR.
We will be supporting our families and Educators to ensure they have the correct information required by IRD so that if they are eligible, they will be able to submit their claim for the FamilyBoost payment.
