Family Boost is a payment from IRD that is designed to support families by refunding part of their childcare costs.
We would hate to think any eligible families are missing out on this rebate. Below is information that you might find helpful.
You may claim FamilyBoost if:
· you are the caregiver of a child or children aged 5 and under
· you have household income of less than $57,286 a quarter
· you have costs from a licensed early childhood education (ECE) provider
· you are a tax resident of New Zealand
· you have a partner, only 1 of you can register for FamilyBoost.
You can claim FamilyBoost every 3 months (quarter). If your household income in a quarter is under $35,000, you can claim up to 40% of your ECE costs. You can claim up to $1,560 each quarter.
If your household income in a quarter is over $35,000 but under $57,286, your FamilyBoost payment will be the lesser of:
· 40% of the ECE fees you have claimed
· the maximum amount ($1,560) less 7 cents for each dollar you earn over $35,000.
There are a few easy steps to follow to be able to claim your Family Boost rebate. Your visiting teacher will support you with these.
At the end of every quarter, Nurtured at Home will collate attendance information, absence and public holidays processed at different hourly rates and any unavailability of your educator. This information is summarised and used to generate the Family Boost statement. WINZ subsidy payments and ECE hours cannot be claimed, only fees that you have physically paid for your childcare.
Once the statements have been completed for the quarter, they are distributed to families by email on or around the 14th of the following month. Therefore, if the quarter being processed is April – June, the statements will be provided around the 14th of July.
Once you have received your quarterly statement from our accounts department you can lodge this on your MyIR account. The IRD will then confirm with you the amount you will be refunded.
