Hi, my name is Carol also known as Nana Carol to my families. I started caring for children in my home over 34 years ago when I was a stay at home mum with my own children. I started my journey when friends asked if I would care for their children and I was happy to help. I found that it was great for my own children to have others to interact and build friendships with. Once we moved to Taupō and my children were all at school, I worked in hospitality which I enjoyed but once I had the opportunity to care for my grandchildren, I jumped at the chance. Over the years we have supported many exchange students which has also contributed to my knowledge. I have spent the past 10 years back in home-based education and I love it. I find working with children entertaining and fascinating watching them grow and develop while learning about the world around them. I love taking the children on adventures in our community and teaching them about sustainability. I have gained my Level 4 Certificate in Early Childhood Education which supported my understanding of children and how they learn. I look forward to meeting new families and finding out how I can support them.
